Dong Ba

Vietnamese

This one's a triple treat: open late, devastatingly cheap and serving excellent bun bo hue. Originating from the old capital of West Vietnam, this dish is a different beast from the ubiquitous pho. Both are beef noodle soups, but this one features fat round noodles, pork, a good hit of chilli and oodles of lemongrass, with a pile of red cabbage and other goodies to garnish. And while you won't find any pho on the menu, there's a long list of alternatives, including an enticing pork rib and rice dish with shredded pork skin, steamed egg cake and fried egg: an interesting take on a classic combination.
