Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen

Pub dining$$

A hidden gem: the former Duck and Swan has been lifted from dank to airy, almost beachy. There’s no gaming room – just plenty of board games to play instead. The soundtrack rides the right side of retro, and the food’s a welcome departure from the norm. A seasonal menu covers the basics, but gentrification is reflected in offers such as chargrilled spatchcock and baked taleggio. Twice cooked pork belly and Riverina strip loin provide juicy heartiness for carnivores, but the scotch egg – a duck egg with chorizo mince – proves the biggest revelation. This revamp’s a winner. Don’t take our seat.
