Eclipse Specialty Coffee Article Lead - narrow

Beyond a beige hotel dining room lies Eclipse, a specialty coffee den tucked under the eaves. Line drawings on the wood-panelled walls pay homage to the bean, while dark bricks, textured amber windows and exposed pipes add to the moody, bunker-like feel. A short black ($3.50) has the enticing aroma of baking cake, with rich molasses and red-cherry flavours. Veneziano roast Eclipse's house blend, the beans sourced from around the globe according to season. Smart piadini and ciabatta rolls take a worldly approach too, from Chinese barbecued pork to Polish 'grandmother ham'.
