El Karim

Lebanese$$

After nearly 35 years in business, this suburban stalwart still packs them in. Tables are full on a Tuesday night. People don’t come for the unflashy decor, but for the fresh, simple share-plates made with care. Choose a trio of dips to try a few - stand-outs are creamy yoghurt with za’atar and hummus with minced lamb. Pumpkin and haloumi salad contrasts sweet and salty, lemon and garlic chicken breasts (dajaj mishwee) are tenderly chargrilled, and chicken livers, a special, are perfectly done. Finish with fresh mint tea and catch a movie at the cinema next door for a fine night out.
