El Mirage

Cafe

El Mirage appears as if from nowhere amid the hum of concrete and carpet warehouses on Lygon Street. A sleek but welcoming wood and polished-concrete factory conversion, the cafe has a wall-sized window for perching inside or out, and eye-bending wood panels that curve from wall to ceiling. The menu runs the gamut from light to hearty, with offerings such as Bircher muesli with raspberry compote, or linguini with smoked salmon, capers, cherry tomatoes and goat's cheese. The Coffee Supreme blend plays it safe but savvy, a medium roast that lingers on the tongue with zest and richness, excellent for milk coffees.
