Mexican$$

There isn't an inch of this rooftop diner that hasn't been styled to perfection. Milk-crate booths are decked out with every imaginable Mexican cliche, a life-sized Virgin Mary looms over the bar and cactuses hang from tiled walls. It's another display of Sydney's hunger for all things Mexican, but few do the food quite so well as this Oaxaca-inspired eatery. Regional specialities include roast crickets, chicken empanadas with yellow mole sauce, and charred corn with pumpkin seeds, chipotle and cheese. Lamb rump with pinto beans is salty and satisfying, while a delicate kingfish ceviche rocks a powerful achiote sauce. A smashed flan of coconut, chocolate and caramel doesn't disappoint either. Most servings are small, so order up if you intend to sample a four-shot tequila slider. One of the resident tequila tasters will merrily explain the origin and finesse of each.
