El Topo

Mexican$$

Such great drinking food, Mexican. Especially when it’s crunchy house-made tortilla chips with fluoro-green guacamole, even crunchier deep-fried crickets (yep, crickets), a refreshing ceviche-in-a-jar of scallop and charred corn, and golden, satisfying empanadas filled with lush chicken thigh, masa and mole Amarillo. Mind you, there are great eating drinks too, including a raft of tequila, as well as sangria, lagerita and Dos Equis Mexican beer. Throw in the bright day-of-the-dead decor and a waiter named Juan Pablo, and you have Sydney’s most Mexican Mexican. Not a stodgy burrito or Tex-Mex fajita in sight.
