Elbon Coffee

Gosh, this is a charming shop, and it's been that way forever, or at least since 1957, which is close to forever. The roaster in the middle of the shop floor swirls around up to 15kg of beans daily, flinging the aromas out the door and down the street. It's impossible to leave without a take-away coffee and a bag of beans, with serious consideration given to a home espresso machine or siphon. The house blend ($3) is well-rounded, with a good kick and nutty after-taste. But there's more to life than coffee - there's iced gingerbreads, Dutch speculaas cookies, Baci kisses and silky, smooth chocolates as well.
