Elceed

Contemporary

North Melbourne is ground zero for nanna-chic cafes, and cosy Elceed tucks happily into the fold. The feel here is more kitsch than twee, with daggy brown floor tiles, terrariums and orange vinyl featuring. Food is comfortingly generous - the mushroom bruschetta with Meredith goat's feta, olive tapenade and candied prosciutto is a hit, or check out their pie of the day. The Supreme coffee is all toasty nuts in bouquet, with plenty of body and a good acid finish. Tea fans get a lengthy list of options to pair nicely with house-made vintage sweet things like passionfruit yoyos or the choc-nut cornflake slice.
