Steakhouse$$$

Like any good steakhouse, the menu is unapologetically beef-dominant. However, with a supply of superb oysters, a cellar of vintage wines and a sophisticated interior, Embers is a cut above the usual. Tucked away in the Park Road cafe strip, corporate diners are definitely well catered for, although anyone in search of a premium steak will also find succour. As one would expect, the grill unashamedly dominates with no fewer than 10 separate cuts on offer. The exclusively grass-fed beef from angus cattle is hand-cut and aged a minimum of 28 days. While the 500 gram T-bone provides a challenge, for the ultimate luxury, try the certified black angus eye fillet in all its tender glory. Other options that benefit from the deftly controlled open flame include wagyu beef short ribs, lamb cutlets and entrees such as barbecue prawns or boerewors sausage. Keeping it simple, mains are only served with potato (baked or chips) and sauce, with other sides needing to be ordered separately. Vegetarians need not apply.
