Fandango

Contemporary

The breakfasts from 1970s kitchens may not have tasted this good, but the decor's a match- think brown, yellow and orange from floor tiles to floral-print crockery. Eggs break the colour code, arriving poached with a zingy dollop of beetroot and feta relish, or silkily scrambled and pesto-laced. The not-too-sweet bircher muesli- topped with velvety rhubarb- is so good it makes it onto the lunch menu; and with service this cosy, why not stay and feast on wraps and sandwiches in the herb-filled courtyard? They do a mean milkshake and excellent Fairtrade coffee, but after spotting the hand-knitted tea cosies, you might be tempted to switch brews.
