Both the name and the imposing floor-to-ceiling wine fridge serve as a constant reminder that wine is the focus here. Flight Room charters somewhat new territory. It's not really a bar, nor is it simply a restaurant. Despite the gimmicky airport lounge theming, it's a clever concept. 'Daily wine flights' offer accessible tasting packages - three wines served with matching tasting plates. There are no decisions to be made, no intimidating lists, and it comes with a mini Class from enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. Rieslings from various regions might be paired with three small seafood courses. Or make your own choices from a huge list of By the glass and small la carte menu. Salmon is cooked just as ordered, served with a vibrant, tangy salad of orange, fennel and pistachio. Duck breast comes with blood plums and syrupy sauternes jus that melds happily with a scattering of sweet potato gnocchi. Wine is the focal point but food is by no means an afterthought.
