Forbes & Burton

It sounds like a legal firm but instead it's merely a rather lovely historic sandstone cafe on the corner of Forbes and Burton. This puts it squarely in a rapidly gentrifying inner urban art school precinct, hence the number of free wi-fiers holding court over coffee. The organic, Fairtrade Golden Cobra caffe latte ($3.60) is lightly spicy and well-balanced, and teas are Tea Craft. No longer open for dinner, the cafe does a roaring trade at weekends with variations on a theme of eggy/toasty things, such as Go Green (poached egg, pesto, watercress, avocado, spinach on sourdough) and a wagyu burger with smoked bacon, cheddar and chips.
