Italian

Lively Fratellini is central to the buzzy vibe of Sunshine Beach village. Al fresco or indoors, flowers and fresh herbs in empty olive oil cans, lanterns, and cushions on the bench seats, all add boho-chic flair to the ambience of this casual eatery. Chef Belinda Tuckwell's menu draws on the Mediterranean for influence, an apt choice with Noosa's balmy weather and the sea just a stone's skip away. Dishes include a roasted red capsicum 'sformato' - similar to a souffle but not as airy - which proves a rich complement to West Australian sardines, while fall-off-the-bone confit duck is a textural albeit juicy partnership with slow-baked yellowstone peach halves dusted with fennel, dried chilli and pepper. A hearty shredded chilli and mint-scented lamb shoulder with penne pasta will please ragu aficionados. Half a barbecued basil and lemon-marinated spatchcock with a warm tabbouleh-style salad of farro, artichoke and chopped green olives is unpretentiously rustic, unlike the pretty meringue-covered, cherry-chocolate mousse roulade, festooned with wisps of Persian fairy floss.
