Fugazza

Italian

Named after the traditional style of focaccia owner Simon Michelangeli could never find in Melbourne, this tiny hole-in-the-wall punches above its weight. The sandwiches are chunky but nimbly flavoured: try a melty mix of eggplant and cheeses with a tomato base. The coffee carefully uses eight bean types in a blend that's dark and rich and deserves some milky accompaniment. A second blend is lighter and more citrusy. A sign proudly announces that the roaster is also the barista, and you might find yourself slipping into a conversation about the very brew you're holding in your hands.
