This converted milkbar opposite the local tennis courts and park may seem cool and casual but its refreshing take on brunch classics makes it special. Cool young things might dish up a Mid East-inspired feast of baked eggs with spicy stewed capsicum and tomato that neatly counterpoints the cold crunch of diced tomato and cucumber and accompanying pot of hummus with creamy tahini. Or sesame-crusted chicken strips might be draped across soy-drenched soba noodles tossed with carrot and snowpeas. Maling Room coffee (ask for the single origin of the day) is a treat with something from the cabinet – perhaps a pistachio meringue.
