The rockabilly-styled staff and sharp red and black interior may hint at a retro philosophy, but the menu at this cool corner cafe is completely contemporary. The use of spiced feta, paprika, coriander and yoghurt represent a Middle Eastern lilt, and the Syrian French toast - thick slices of brioche with sticky rhubarb, chopped pistachios and star anise yoghurt - is a great example. But cafe standards such as poached eggs with stewed tomatoes, porky sausages, onion jam and pesto are also done with flair. Huge fruit muffins keep younger customers happy and the turntable's continual funky playlist keeps the mood upbeat.
