Gingerlee

There's a burger for breakfast, but that's perhaps the only nod to Gingerlee's '50s rockabilly style on an otherwise Moorish-infused menu. There's plenty of seating inside and out, and a concrete floor and vintage signage along the black walls hint at the cafe's previous life as a motorbike shop. Now the kick-starter comes care of an Espresso Syndicate slow roast, rich and nutty with a well-rounded finish. Punters travel across town for the Syrian French toast with tangy rhubarb, honey labne, orange blossom syrup and pistachios, or Gingerlee's signature hangover-buster: eggs and bacon with chilli jam and a bloody mary.
