Gurney Drive

Malaysian

Named after the famous hawker-food district in Penang, Gurney Drive infuses the spirit of fiery street-side woks and the aromas of barbecued meats, lemongrass and chilli into a menu that's authentic in flavour and price. The only thing out of whack is its almost-fancy decor. Portions are scarily big and arrive moments after ordering, so skip the entrees and tuck into a mountain of smoky char kwai teow (wok-fried noodles with prawn, squid and cockles mixed with egg gravy), or a heaped plate of charred chicken ribs that'll turn heads. The Malaysian delicacy of fish-head curry keeps things real, while glistening sambal kangkung (water spinach and sambal) provides green relief.
