Hausfrau

European

In a parallel universe, an Austrian version of domestic goddess Nigella opens a cafe-bakery and it resembles Hausfrau: all aprons and florals, flirty and feminine. Taking pride of place is a cabinet full of treasures that speak of lusty appetites, spoon-licking-good cake batters and late-night fridge raids. Mitteleurope flavours come in the guise of apfel strudel and made-to-order Linzer tortes, or an uber-cheesy breakfast dish of Austrian rarebit. A Genovese short black offers a full-bodied kick of toffee and malt with fruity notes - perfect with the vanilla-scented goodness of a creamy custard square.
