Contemporary

New owners have revitalised the menu at this fresh-faced heritage cottage, with its pretty open areas and cosy little rooms. It's quite the multi-purpose destination - ideal for breakfast or lunch on the sunny terrace, a full-blown dinner in the elegant, pastel-toned parlour or simply for coffee, or a glass of wine with a share plate or two from the dinner menu. Peppered with a smattering of Italian, the menu is more Mod Oz in inclination, ranging from crisp, light tempura zucchini flowers oozing mozzarella and white anchovies to a charcuterie board piled high with prosciutto, pancetta, bresaola, salami, parmesan, truffled honey and a fiery 'nduja (spiced cured pork spread). Daily specials supplement the five 'substantials', which include delightfully light gnocchetti sardi with baby prawns and mushrooms cooked in basil broth. And while the salted caramel cheesecake didn't quite hit the mark, its accompanying blow-torched banana is fabulous fun.
