This is arguably Newcastle's trendiest hotel, located right on the Newcastle harbour waterfront in a refurbished warehouse. It has a smart TAB corner, a glassed-in poker machine room and a mezzanine with soft sofas and great views. The wine list is short, but the bar features a good selection of tap beers and ciders. The bistro is mostly about meat - from burgers to steak to an innovative tasting plate (pork belly, beef kofta, chorizo and bread for $25). Prices are reasonable ($25 for a 300-gram sirloin), there are some creative specials such as duck confit risotto and crab spaghettini.
