Hotel Saravana Bhavan

Indian$$

This is one 'hotel' you won't regret checking in to. Begin your stay by digging into a sizzling pot of Sri Lankan garlic prawns; they're fresh and soft to the bite, served with fresh lime wedges and plenty of spicy garlic oil to soak up with naan. A special of bakara kashmiri - kid - hits all the right notes and has irresistibly melting meat, while the Goan fish curry is full of flavour. Colourful upturned umbrellas, white cloth-covered tables and efficient, eager-to-please service add to the appeal. And you can forget the old mint on the pillow: the complimentary treat at this hotel might just be terrific Sri Lankan tapioca pudding stuffed full of fresh coconut.
