I Carusi

Italian$$

The original owner may have gone but I Carusi keeps on keeping on, welcoming waves of diners to its unassuming shopfront. Make no mistake, it's not for the casual line-up of tightly packed tables, serviceable tiled floors and mismatched prints that the diners come, but the damn fine pizzas being paraded out of the open kitchen. Minimal, quality toppings- think gorgonzola with sauteed leek, or pumpkin, pinenut and goat's cheese- are strewn atop expertly made bases, which are pleasingly chewy and charred just so. Even pizza purists might try the dessert, including a wicked dark chocolate and pear pizzetta, and the lush-as-you-like white chocolate and peach version.
