I Carusi

Italian$$

I Carusi’s plain exterior belies the warmth and cosiness of its interior, pared to the essentials but aglow with vintage mood lighting. The straightforward menu kneads up two dozen pizza varieties with sides such as tomato, cucumber and red onion salad. Thickish pizza bases, crisp at the edges, carry a well-weighted range of  toppings; the gamberi piccante replete with tiger prawns and semi-dried tomatoes dotted with strappy fior di latte, or St Alain with sliced artichoke and provolone cheese forested in rocket. Dough lovers go the extra mile with turnovers dusted in sugar icing, plump with white and dark chocolate and strawberries.
