It is rare to stumble upon a superb dining experience. Yet this establishment is often overlooked, lost somewhat in the bar/restaurant/lounge/function venue conglomeration. And that's a shame, because head chef Shannon Batten and his team certainly deserve applause. Each dish is artfully executed and adorned with tempting accompaniments such as the herb crusted lamb with chive spaetzle and ratatouille or the eye fillet with beef cheek tortellini and mushroom mousseline. This even extends to dessert where a standout chocolate pithivier is baked to order, its crisp pastry and molten chocolate centre finished with banana mousse and mascarpone ice cream. Exemplary service should also be commended. Too easily dismissed as the food service component of a bar, this restaurant needs to break free of its multipurpose venue mantle (and lose the paper tablecloth covers) so it can be appreciated as a truly excellent restaurant in its own right.
