Ichiraku

Japanese$$

Generous servings and consistent quality make Ichiraku stand out from the crowd in an area thick with competition. From the karaage chicken ramen to the grilled salmon sushi and prawn tempura donburi, this smart eatery consistently delivers excellent value for money. The deep-fried eggplant in the nasu fried curry special is crisp outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft inside, while the mountain of crab in the soft-shell crab salad seldom fails to impress. Service, while knowledgeable, could be friendlier, and the setting - down lights reflecting off high gloss black tables and banquette seating down one side - is casual but chic.
