Jackson Dodds

Contemporary

The inner-north cafe habit has pressed into West Preston. Jackson Dodds, at the end of the 112 tram line and across from a park, is a champion for the young families who’ve bought homes here. Kids are catered to, the coffee’s good, the fitout’s kinda cool (graffiti mural outside, vintage trinkets here and there) and the menu’s a familiar breakfast-egg-heavy collection of dishes. A seasoned avocado with diced tomato and two poached eggs is light and zesty, as is dukkah-covered poached eggs served with silverbeet. Lunch might be grilled lamb salad: Greek-style marinated lamb, red onion, tomato, olives, feta and rocket with balsamic and tzatziki.
