Janani

Indian

Whatever dread might well from this setting among fast-food joints in a petrol station complex evaporates once you’re inside. Convivial subcontinental families pass food and babies to each other in the modern dining room, and the smell of spices intoxicates. There’s sambar, a drinkable lentil and vegetable based soup/sauce, with almost everything, including the feather-light idli. Savoury doughnuts, vada, are chopped and submerged in it, while the stretchy cheese-filled dosa has it on the side with mint chutney and more. Egg hoppers are bubbly and crisp-edged with spongy middles, and they do a sweet jaggery version, too.
