Is this the year of the fancy souvlaki? The team behind Aspro Ble thinks so, revamping the restaurant into a lively, low-priced Athenian souvlaki bar. Signature lamb souva has generous, tender meat wrapped in springy pita with a heap of hot potato chips – more sauce would be good. A bounty of baklava and spanakopita sits on the counter alongside salads including a zingy pearl barley number flecked with pinenuts. Other standards hit the spot, such as salty saganaki, kalamaki skewers and dips such as tarama or eggplant. Beach-house decor and cheap Greek beer make this sharper than your average fast-food joint.
