Kimchi Lunchbox

Korean

Checking your receipt in disbelief only confirms one thing: Kimchi Lunchbox is unbelievably good value. Cheerful staff shout welcomes and often over-ride the self-service system. Generously portioned ‘snacks’ arrive as they’re ready: plump pan-fried pork dumplings, creamy takoyaki octopus balls with waving bonito flakes, and fried chicken wings in an addictive panko crumb batter drizzled with sweet chilli sauce. Oversized savoury pancakes constitute a meal, but the day crowd of students, workers and solo diners are attracted to monstrous lunchbox sets overflowing with barbecued meat, punchy kimchi, beansprouts, rice and sliced fruit. Try grilled eel in a rice-based bibimbap.
