La Buvette

Contemporary$$

With its name recalling the Parisian drinking fountains of the past and its pleasant pavement tables, this restaurant has been a popular part of the local scene for many years. These days it has moved somewhat from its French roots, though it still features traditional bistro dishes such as an excellent steak frites with maitre d'hotel butter. The menu is not big but it's done well: a touch of Asian, a touch of Italian and Mediterranean, a touch of French. Fresh ingredients, very generous portions and friendly, prompt service make this old faithful a reliably good experience, though at dinner it goes a little beyond the Everyday Eats budget.
