La Buvette

There is seating inside at La Buvette but most of the action happens on the leafy pavement outside, where getting a table under one of the umbrellas is a game of chance and good management. The breakfast menu draws young and old from near and far, for generous platters ranging from brioche French toast with grilled banana and puddle of maple syrup to the nicely cooked buttermilk pancakes. There's a croque monsieur - and a madame, with an egg - and green (pesto) eggs. The Allpress caffe latte ($3.80) is well made and smooth, and comes with a little spice biscuit. And for those who need it, the coffee service runs through to 10.30pm.
