La Paloma

South American

Casually turning out empanadas and turning tunes on the record player for around eight years, La Paloma has a worn-in, bare brilliance. Bold, block-coloured walls and shadowbox shelving display an affection for simpler times. Ornately framed blackboards display the simple, South American-inflected fare offered here. There are empanadas at brekkie and lunch. Or, maybe a thick-crumbed chicken cutlet with a delicately flavoured rice pilaf, or potato tortilla with a hunk of crusty bread and salad. There’s a second room out the back, and room any day for dulce de leche-filled churros and great coffee.
