Italian

While you may flirt with the idea of ordering a Negroni or a beer from the short but judicious list of international brews, wine is clearly the focus at La Vita Buona. The ever-changing list offers more than 500 by the bottle (Italian, Australian and New Zealand wines figure prominently) and prices are reasonable. In true enoteca fashion, all bottles are available to take away. But if you stick around, you can sample Italian-inspired dishes such as pasta or salumi with a small selection of wines by the glass. Cosy up in a corner of the intimate, cellar-like interior, or sit outside facing on to City Square, and revel in the good life.

The long, narrow cellar-like space, with its hidden nooks and excellent wine list, becomes extra attractive in the cold.
