Laksa Me

Chinese$$

Rough-and-ready or industrial chic? Whatever the exposed pipes and concrete floor signify, this no-nonsense Malaysian joint offers more than just laksa. Which is for the best, as the eponymous dish can be decent rather than spectacular, albeit with an authentic grainy spiciness. Laksa lemak, enriched with coconut milk, is a surer bet. The menu offers plenty of unorthodox adventure, including crisp duck spring roll with salted plum, and red curry quail with nashi pear salad. For traditionalists, Hainanese chicken rice- with softly tender chicken, perfectly flavoured rice and zingy condiments- is a winner.
