Chinese$$$

Landmark is known for the impressive lines that spill from its front door every Sunday lunch. For those in the know, there is a treasure trove of authentic Chinese food, both in the yum cha alcoves and hidden behind the printed menu. Those relegated to the 'pop-Chinese' fare will wonder what the fuss is about given the trolleys of good, but hardly amazing, dim sum, but anyone with a sense of adventure will discover dishes such as tripe swimming in a glutinous broth of Asian spices; lobster flashed through the wok with ginger, chilli and garlic and the usual array of coral trout, barramundi and crabs. In both yum cha and a la carte, the seafood is fresh and beautifully cooked, and the offal is a standout. Add a surprising wine list and private rooms away from the cacophony, and you'll see what makes Landmark such a destination for the Chinese audience. Let the staff know you're happy to experiment or take a Chinese friend. You'll be singing its praises as one of the city's best yum cha joints.
