African
Lat-Dior's African soundtrack can make it hard to refrain from turning your wooden dinner bowls into impromptu musical instruments. One dish bound to settle everyone is the house favourite, a whole chicken marinated then crisply barbecued. The rest of the menu covers Morocco (fish and lamb tajines) to Madagascar (cubed beef, marinated and fried). Smallish mains are best eaten with couscous, rice or thin savoury crepes. Side dishes shine: try batansey, a mini melted mound of golden fried eggplant, or fataya, somewhere between Thai curry puff and homemade beef pie, and not too far from heaven.
