A delightful dining room with chandeliers, antiques, gold-framed mirrors and sumptuous drapery sets the scene for the elegant French-inspired menu. However, there's no Gallic brusqueness here, rather service is confident, warm and knowledgeable. Whether you choose classics such as the textbook steak tartare with organic egg yolk, cornichons, pink salt flakes and batons of toasted brioche, or the vivid and contemporary snapper and scallops atop parsley risotto, with asparagus and beetroot-hued creme fraiche, there's much to love about Little Truffle. The confit duck with its crisp skin and rich, yielding meat is cut with sour cherry jus, just right with pinot noir available by the glass. To delight further, the accompanying tarte fine of lightly caramelised endive is a thing of wonder with its buttery light handmade puff pastry. A 'petite' souffle de jour, risen skyward from its dish and ready to be doused with warm creme anglaise provides a fitting finale to proceedings.
