Italian$$$

There's a cheeky, good humoured feel to L'Unico, which serves solid Italian fare. And what's not to feel a little cocky about when locals and visitors both flock here daily for sustenance and sea views. The emphasis is on classic comfort food rather than cutting edge; prepared with local produce and generously proportioned. An entree of fried calamari is tender, sweetened with chilli jam and served on rocket. It makes a fine light lunch when accompanied by garlic-loaded olive and anchovy flatbread straight from the oven. Pork belly and spiced apple risotto packs a flavour punch, and will certainly stick to your sides. Gamberoni (grilled banana prawns) with Mediterranean vegetables (red onion, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, fetta and olives) is presented at the table in a rustic frying pan. Save some bread for mopping.
