Madame Nhu

Vietnamese$$

Suave, sophisticated, seductive… and cheap! This is Surry Hills’ best-kept secret (for now anyway). Madame Nhu doesn’t feature a massive carte du jour, but the few (mainly Vietnamese street food) menu choices are all bang on when it comes to freshness and zing. Kick proceedings off with ricepaper spring rolls – the duck ones are divine – then try a zesty Saigon slider: it’s a fusion dish that actually works. As for mains, caramelised chicken ga kho is a must – the slow-cooked plump chicken bits come immersed in an earthy sauce, just right served alongside fragrant ginger rice.
