Maison Ama Lurra

Contemporary

This warehouse cafe offers a mixed cultural bag: a Basque name, French tea and a Melbourne aesthetic. Milk-crate furniture adds a low-fi touch to the bright interior, but its muted greens and meeting rooms make it more business than boho. Tea is imported directly from Mariage Freres, brewed to order (no leaves in the pot) and served in cast-iron pots resting on cute felt trivets. A house blend espresso presents caramel aromas and offers an unctuous, richly textured mouthfeel rich in dark chocolate flavours. As with the tea, the menu looks to France for inspiration in its range of sandwiches, cakes and breakfast dishes.
