Makoto is one of the top offerings in a suburb renowned for affordable, authentic Asian fare. To label it a ‘sushi train’ would not be doing this slick venue justice. Fine produce is sourced daily from Sydney Fish Markets and the catch dictates the plump, glistening sashimi and nigiri-sushi offered. Hand-rolled sushi is similarly a cut above; think salmon sashimi-wrapped rolls topped with seared scallops and roe. An a la carte menu ranges from tempura to green tea ice-cream. It seats 57 but serves around 500 people daily, so a wait may be in store - luckily adept staff keep the train moving.
