Malacca Straits

Malaysian$$

This outdoorsy diner in a courtyard off the Quadrant building serves aromatic nonya, Indonesian and Thai dishes. The sprawling menu ranges from hawker classics – roti-wrapped beef murtabak with curry dipping sauce that’s a meal in itself; and banana leaf-wrapped otak otak, fragrant mousse-like minced fish – to lusciously complex (permanent) specials such as signature chicken curry and sambal sotong – calamari in a funky chilli sauce. Service is fast and friendly, the vibe upbeat. And with the fish market down the road, enjoy a cheap splurge with the BYO crab deal: $20 to have it cooked Singapore chilli style.
