Lebanese

Retro-stylish brothers Jad and Hady Choucair serve breakfast and lunch at this cool Levant-themed shopfront under the eye of mum Gisele, former chef at Beirut's French embassy. The blackboard menu changes every couple of days, revolving around classic rice-and-meat stuffed eggplant, zucchini and peppers in fragrant tomato reductions, and plates of cauliflower, silverbeet, eggplant and green beans with various combinations of tahini, sumac, garlic and cumin. Everything is made in-house, including the sweets in the glass-fronted counter: look out for big baklava triangles filled with a rosewater-sweet custard of apple and goat's milk.
