Mankoushe Cafe

Unlike its busy bakery next door, Mankoushe’s cafe is a delightful oasis of calm. Decked out in white, with wooden tables and chairs and a comfy sofa corner, the design is as fresh and home-made as the food. Start by dunking soft pita into herby broad-bean dip, or try crunchy pastry cigars filled with goat’s cheese and haloumi. Mains might be a braised zucchini stuffed with freekeh in tomato sauce; or a pide, baked next door and filled with fried cauliflower. A small cabinet with delicious pastries is an invitation to linger over sweet coffee or fresh mint tea; weekends include a tempting breakfast menu.
