Cafe
A mostly older crowd has twigged to the homely food and good value at this friendly cafe, attached to a gallery and nestled in what was once the church minister's study. Grab a pew at a polished wood table and choose from the blackboard menu, which might offer: hearty lentil and onion soup, lifted by thyme and topped with a melted brie toastie; frittata plump with, say, sweet potato, fennel and artichoke, served with salad and house-made tomato relish; or soulful pillows of spinach and ricotta gnocchi, covered in sweet napoli sauce. Moist gluten-free carrot cake makes a pleasing finish.
