Market Lane's north-of-the-river outpost has just a few wooden benches and no tables. The in-house pourover menu offers single origins such as Musasa from Rwanda or Capao from Brazil. Both, along with Brazilian Solum, might be in the seasonal espresso blend ($3.50). Full in the mouth, it swishes around a range of flavours at once, from toasty to fruity overtones of apricot and raisin. Lightly roasted, it's less astringent and lingers with only a trace of tannin. No need to go to Prahran Market to sample Market Lane's award-winning filter and espresso brews - you can get them right in the city at this whitewashed room opposite the Queen Vic Market.
