Maya Da Dhaba

Indian$$

Maya opened among Sydney's first wave of Indian restaurants more than 20 years ago, and it still holds a special place in the stomachs of cheap eaters because it offers such great value. It's easy to eat here for less than $30, especially if you share; vegetarian dishes are even cheaper. Expect confident versions of traditional dishes from all over the subcontinent. Butter chicken hums with flavour and a little warmth, samosa pastry is crisp and tandoor lamb chops are tender and moist. Crimson cushions threaded with gold, Indian wall murals and fairy lights set the scene, while Hindi music snakes through the large room.
