Menya Noodle Bar

The walls of this no-frills noodle bar are lined with dramatic black-and-white close-up photographs of ramen enthusiasts in full noodle attack mode, and at long white tables are live action versions of the pictures. Laksa, udon and soba noodles are on offer, but the faithful stick to ramen – especially menya ramen with its collagen-rich tonkotsu stock, nicely chewy noodles and bountiful cargo of roast pork, fish cake, bamboo shoots and seasoned boiled egg. For a bit of on-the-side action, gyoza dumplings are plump and golden-bottomed, and the mini chilli stewed beef on rice is comfort in a bowl.
